Plusieurs années de suite, visitant la Bretagne, j'ai souvent imaginé trouver les signes du passage du peintre Yves Tanguy. Je me suis reconnu très jeune dans ses paysages mentaux troublants, et continue à les entendre en composant. Cet amoncellement sonore est pour lui rendre la politesse.

For years I've been hunting down the landscapes who inspired the infamous surrealist painter, Yves Tanguy, in his native Britanny. The rock accretions, the fierce flora, the towers, everything is still there in this land of mystery and beauty. I just had to listen.

Tanguy's eery, harrowing sights of another dimension are close to the way I hear sound. I am inclined to think of his surrealist landscapism as a precursor to soundscapes/dark ambient music. Here nature is seen by someone/something else than the human mind, maybe nature itself, or so I fancy. Presenting sound, texture, timbres from a different angle, neither abstract, neither concrete, but rather both - music as it unfolds, barely disturbed by the human gesture, is my purpose. Of course this is an illusion, this is my dream - I created it. Still - worth pursuing.
